Can anyone recommend lighting kit etc for video shooting? Preferably low cost - but effective :)

Not low cost but hugely good....Kino flos... fluorescent lighting used in the film business. There are Chinese knock offs available and they do work, but the construction quality is not there. You can check out ebay, they sometimes have deals. A couple of four banks and a Diva would do you and they look great, but not cheap. They are quick and easy to set up and increase your productivity immensely.

Might point you in the right direction. They are cool...in temperature...so easy to work with. Don't use a lot of horsepower, so easy on circuits. Just an all around great choice. Get the daylight balanced bulbs, mix with window light and you are off to the races. Get one fixture, and work your way up.

Geoff....here is a thought....just rent a kit and try it out to see if it works for you. These people rent Kinos. Not sure if they are in your 'hood.
